Josh Huckaby

Josh Huckaby is an American alpine climber and photographer, based in Bishop, California. He grew up in Southern California surfing and climbing. He likes to ride motorcycles around Indonesia surfing his brains out and climbing on windy Patagonian peaks with his friends. All the while keeping the camera out trying to capture the experience. Josh was lead rigger on "Free Solo" during filming on El Capitan in Yosemite. He has also spent 10 seasons "waiting" for good weather in El Chalten.

He calls the Eastern Sierra home, where there is more good rock than you can shake a stick at.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

I am most proud climbing "Mate y Porro" on the North Pillar of Fitz Roy to the summit and descending down the Franco-Argentine with my good friend Troutman. It was an ultra-lite "disaster style" ascent: no sleeping bags, only big spoon little spoon. We spent four days and three nights on the run (town to town). *before the guidebook

What does Vuarnet represent to you?

Style.

What is your motto?

Try and dust off the little things...
